In real life the Reds swept the Braves to pull to. Every Braves player (yes, Niekro also) had a hit with Jerry Royster, Willie Montanez and Matthews getting three each. Jeff Burroughs added a bases loaded triple in the 6th. Atlanta got five runs in the 4th on walks and singles and then back to back two run singles from Gary Matthews and Biff Pocoroba. Barry Bonnell started it off with a surprising two run double in the 2nd. Atlanta pounded out 18 hits (15 were singles )to make this one a laugher. Niekro went the distance, scattering seven hits, walking three while striking out ten. Niekro fluttered and the Reds flailed at the knuckler all night. Every Reds starter (including Hume) got a hit except Bench. Vic Correll hit a two run shot for the Braves. Rose had a two run double and Foster hit a two run homer. But the Reds got three each in the 4th and 5th to put the game away. D pitchers really are so terrible and this is already a great hitters season.Ītlanta jumped out to a quick 2-0 thanks to a bases loaded walk to Burroughs followed by a DP. I am pretty sure that APBA will be the game where the Reds have the most combined runs and hits. I already have a spreadsheet setup so it won't be difficult to get those formulas in there. If anyone is interested in other numbers, let me know.Ītlanta Braves at Cincinnati Reds - 3 Games (APBA)Īt some point I have to figure out not only the record for the Reds in each game engine but also the runs and hits scored/allowed. Elias Sosa has the lowest ERA among relievers (1.42.) Among pitchers, Tommy John and Rick Rhoden lead with 7 wins, Charlie Hough the most saves (6), Don Sutton in Strikeouts (57) and walks (25.) John has three shutouts, and Burt Hooton a team low 1.84 ERA, with a team high 88 IP. Ron Cey leads in doubles (13), and Bill Russell in errors (9). Reggie Smith leads in homeruns (16), RBIs (58), slugging (.585), and GW RBIs (10). Overall, pretty darn good, I would say.Īs far as individuals, Davey Lopes continues to lead the Dodgers in hitting (.342), hits (69), runs (40), triples (3), and stolen bases (19). Doubles and triple are bang on (78 and 11, vs 223 and 28 in a full year.) And finally, the Dodgers have scored 269 runs vs 769, which is within about eight runs for an entire year. LA has clubbed 71 homers in the replay (well over 200 hundred pro-rated) versus 191 IRL. The Dodger's defense has been much better thus far, with 33 errors (pro-rated for a full schedule would be less than 100) versus 124 for a full season. Their ERA thus far is an even 3.00 in '77 it was 3.22. LA is 39-16, a couple of games better than their actual 37-18. One area I can quantify relative to actual to-date numbers is of course W-L record. I can't seem to figure out how to look up stats to a certain date on Baseball Reference, so season stats will be for the entire season, an important thing to keep in mind given how fast the Dodgers started.
